Sublette County, Wyoming: a place of unparalleled beauty
Approximately the size of the state of Connecticut, Sublette County
supports one of the lowest population densities in the county, approximately
one person per square mile. Total population for the county hovers
at approximately 5,000. Sublette County is nestled between three
major mountain ranges: the Wind River Mountains to the east, the
Wyoming Range to the west, and the Gros Ventre to the north. Its
unchanged landscape and bountiful wildlife yields exceptional opportunities
for hunting, fishing, mountain climbing and winter recreation. A
large portion Sublette County residents make their living from ranching,
the oil and gas drilling industry, and from tourism. Pinedale has
a vibrant arts community and most of the businesses in the county
are locally run small businesses, allowing for unique small town
connection and rich quality of life.
The Sublette County Libraries consist of a main library in the
county seat of Pinedale and a branch library in Big Piney. There
is also a Little Library that travels to multiple locations around
the county. The Libraries serve as community centers, highly focused
on serving the needs of the community with a comprehensive collection,
dynamic programming for all ages, and welcoming meeting spaces.
