Getting a library card

Getting a Library Card

Library cards are freeLibrary cards are free to county residents with proof of a local mailing address*.

Proof of a local mailing address can be:

  • a driver's license

  • a bill or contract showing a local mailing address

  • a piece of cancelled mail

* A General Delivery address may not be used. See below to learn about other borrowing options.

To obtain a library card, stop into the library and fill out an application. Your card will be issued and your account will become active for use immediately. If you cannot provide one of the above items proving that you have a local mailing address, you may instead open a Library Deposit Account (see below).

Children are issued library application forms when they enter the first grade. These forms must be signed by a parent or guardian before children can check out library materials. Cards are not actually given to children until they enter high school and can be responsible for carrying their own cards. Children under the age of 18 are required to have parental permission to check out adult music and book CDs, books-on-tape and R-rated movies.

Library Deposit Accounts

If you do not meet the above mailing address requirements, there is the option of a deposit account. The library will hold a $50.00 deposit until you either obtain proof of a local mailing address or you move out of the area. If your library account is clear at that time, the deposit will be returned to you.

For more information, please contact the library at (307) 367-4114 or info@sublettecountylibrary.org, or speak with a staff member during your next visit.

The Benefits of a Library card

"I have found the most valuable thing in my wallet is my library card."

-Former First Lady Laura Bush

With a library card, you will be able to borrow print, audio, and video materials from any Wyoming library*, access many online databases and services through our web site, place a hold on items and manage your library account at any time.

* You may borrow from other libraries through our interlibrary loan (ILL) service (special fees may apply, go here to view details). You may also use your card while traveling throughout the state to borrow items from other Wyoming libraries; we ask that you return the borrowed items to their proper libraries.

You may view which items you have out or renew items by accessing your online account with your library card number and PIN. Access your library account   Go
