Inter library Loan (ILL)

If you cant find what you're looking for at the Big Piney Branch, we can get what you need from other Wyoming libraries or libraries outside the state if need be. The ILL service is available to all library patrons in good standing.

How to do it

You can begin placing an ILL by searching for your desired item through the library catalog and expanding your search to include "All Libraries". Have your library card and PIN ready. Visit the Frequently Asked Questions section in our Using the Library page for more information on ILLs and PINs. You may also call us at (307) 276-3515 or email us for help placing your ILL request.

As a general rule, newly purchased items are not loaned by other libraries. Other expensive or easily damaged items such as music CDs or video and DVDs may have restrictions as well. If there is an item that you would like to borrow yet is unavailable through ILL, please contact us to recommend the item for purchase by the Big Piney Branch.

Fees

The general fee for shipment of materials is $1.00. Occasionally there are additional fees that originate from the lending library. You will be notified by phone in such cases. Payment of the fee is required when you arrive to pick up the item at the Front Desk.

Due dates

Due dates are set by the lending library. In most cases, the item is renewable. However, many out-of-state lending libraries do not allow renewals.

To renew your ILL item, call us during business hours at (307) 276-3515, email us, access your account through the library catalog, or stop in to the library.

Procedures

After placement of an ILL, it normally takes seven to 10 days for the item to arrive at the Big Piney Branch Library. Some ILL requests may be delayed if the item was checked out by a patron at the lending library, or if the lending library is out of state. Your patience is appreciated in such matters.

You will receive a phone call from staff to inform you that the item has arrived. Feel free to contact us at any time regarding the status of your Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request.

The ILL item will arrive with an informational sheet attached to the front cover. We ask that you do not remove this sheet as it contains information that cuts down on staff administrative time in returning the item.

Please return ILL items to the Big Piney Branch on time, as it ensures that we can maintain responsible borrowing relationships with other libraries for all patrons.

4. Because of the non-secure nature of the rooms, the library is not responsible for any articles left behind.

5. Organizations must schedule individual meetings. The library will not guarantee availability of a meeting room on a regular basis.

6. If the meeting room is used during hours when the library is closed, it is the responsibility of the organization to pick up the key at the Front Desk during regular library hours. A key may be picked up two days in advance if necessary.
